THIS ARROGANT CEO HAD NO IDEA THE QUIET OLD MAN OWNED THE ENTIRE SKYSCRAPER

The shatter of the laptop’s plastic casing echoed like a gunshot off the floor-to-ceiling glass of the sixty-eighth floor. The sleek silver device bounced twice on the Italian marble before sliding beneath the massive mahogany conference table, its screen dark and bleeding purple ink.

"Get out of my sight," Julian roared, his chest heaving beneath his tailored vest as he slammed his palm onto the table. "I don't care if you're the tech support or a lost pedestrian. You don't sit in my executive suite without an appointment, and you certainly don't breathe my air."

The elderly man in the faded gray wool coat didn't flinch, nor did he look down at the ruined computer at his feet. He sat calmly in the leather swivel chair, his weathered hands resting quietly on the handle of a simple wooden cane that had a tiny silver band around the neck.

"The elevator didn't require a badge for this floor today, young man," the old gentleman said, his voice flat, steady, and carrying the crisp, rhythmic accent of old-school Manhattan wealth. "I was merely waiting for the rain to clear."

A sharp, mocking snicker broke from the vice presidents lined up along the back wall, all of them shifting their feet in their expensive Oxfords. Beside Julian, his chief operating officer leaned in, adjusting his gold cufflinks with a performative smirk.
