The True Shareholder of the Glittering Diamond Vault

The heavy droplets of vintage champagne slid down the sharp angle of Julian’s jaw, soaking into the silk lapels of his tailored tuxedo jacket. The broken crystal of his glass lay between them on the polished white marble, a jagged starburst of shards reflecting the gold light of the massive chandeliers above.

The woman, Sarah, didn't use the hem of her apron to dry her skin. She allowed the liquid to run down her neck, her dark eyes locking onto Julian’s face with a stillness that made the surrounding executives instinctively step back.

"You've been managing the European logistics division for exactly fourteen months, Julian," Sarah said, her voice completely calm as she reached back to unhook the linen straps of her catering uniform. "You spent six of those months moving the offshore reserves into a private shell company in Panama."

Julian’s laughter, which had been echoed by his associates only seconds ago, died instantly in his throat. His fingers twitched against his cuffs as the black apron dropped to the floor, revealing the midnight-blue silk of a gown that bore the crest of the firm's founding family.
