The Thorns of the White Rose

The grand church hall fell into an immediate, suffocating silence.

Beneath the shimmering crystal lights, the elite guests stood perfectly frozen, their eyes locking onto the scattered white petals strewn across the immaculate marble floor.

The bride, Chloe, stood with her chest heaving, her face twisted in a sharp, defensive rage as she clutched the heavy satin train of her designer gown. Her manicured hand remained suspended in the air after the brutal slap she had just delivered to the elderly woman.

“You clumsy, pathetic fool!” Chloe screamed, her voice echoing violently through the high-arched ceiling. “You almost ruined a dress worth more than your entire life!”

The older woman, Margaret, stood trembling in her simple, faded cardigan, her head lowered as tears rolled silently down her wrinkled cheeks. She didn't shout back; she only looked down at the overturned clay pot and the bruised white roses at her feet while the high-society crowd watched in collective shock.

Then suddenly—

BANG!

The massive wooden church doors burst open with a resounding echo.

The groom, Ethan, rushed inside, his breathing heavy and urgent. But instead of running to his beautiful bride standing at the altar, he charged straight past the rows of stunned guests and sprinted directly toward the humiliated elderly woman.
