THE POP STAR SAW THE OLD PENDANT... AND THE STADIUM WENT SILENT

The stadium's massive LED screens flickered in the downpour, casting a surreal, neon-blue glow over the sea of sixty thousand frozen faces. The heavy bass that had been vibrating through the concrete structure just moments ago was entirely gone, replaced only by the steady, relentless drum of rain against the plastic stage canopy.

Linh stood in the middle of the catwalk, her glittering silver stage outfit soaked through, her hands trembling as she held the tiny, tarnished silver locket. She didn't look like the biggest pop icon in the country anymore; she looked small, vulnerable, and completely stripped of her celebrity armor. Her microphone hung loosely in her right hand, catching the sound of her ragged, uneven breathing and broadcasting it to every corner of the arena.
