THE BOY SAID 5 WORDS… AND THE COFFIN STARTED MOVING

The first knock came from inside the coffin.

At first, everyone thought it was thunder.

Then it came again.

Three dull taps beneath the white lid.

The priest stopped mid-prayer. The pallbearers froze with their hands still gripping the ropes. Rain slid down every black umbrella in the cemetery, but no one moved.

The boy stood at the edge of the grave, soaked to the skin, pointing with one shaking hand.

“She’s not dead.”

The stepmother’s face went completely white.

“That child is lying,” she snapped, but her voice cracked on the last word.

The girl’s father turned slowly toward her.

“What did he say?”

The boy pushed past a security guard and dropped to his knees beside the coffin.

“She’s breathing,” he gasped. “I saw her finger move before they closed it.”

A murmur tore through the crowd.

The father lunged forward.

“Open it.”

The stepmother grabbed his sleeve.

“Don’t. Please. The doctor already signed—”

He ripped his arm away.

“Open the coffin.”

The screws came out one by one. Each turn sounded louder than the rain.
